Our process is a bit detailed, but there is a point to it.  Our objective is to place the right Orphan Afghan Hound in the right home.  To achieve this end, we ask that, if you are interested in adopting, please fill out our adoption application on line (pdf format) or print a copy and fill it out by hand or with a typewriter (remember those?).  Answer all questions candidly, or mark them N/A if they do not apply to your circumstances.  Do not alter the application.  We recommend that you read our adoption contract as well, before completing the application.

Send the application to the rescuer who has an Afghan Hound you are interested in, or send it to AffieRescue@aol.com with an email describing the type of Affie you are looking for.  We will work with the rescuers closest to you and arrange for a visit to your home to discuss available Affies and get a “sense” of your home environment.  Again, our objective is to make the best match possible between you and your future Afghan Hound.  We may not have the right Affie for you at that point in time (children, fences, cats and other dogs are some of the many factors we must consider) and it may take a while to make a match, but be patient.  And bear in mind that many of our rescuers prefer to place their Af’s within reasonable driving range of their geographic location.
